The Town of San Juan Tararameo-Benito Juarez is located on the South shore of the lake (about 5 minutes from Cuitzeo). The population is about 2,500 composed of mostly women, children and seniors, since most men are the labor force and have to immigrate to the USA or the big cities in Mexico to work. The local economy is based on agriculture and livestock and the money that is sent by those working abroad. Some locals speak English, since one time or another they have worked in the United States. The town celebrates many local festivities year round, and the highlight is the December celebrations. They have rodeo competitions, country style dances and delicious cuisine.

San Juan del Lago RV Resort is working together with the local residents to create an environment ideal for the RVers lifestyle. The local residents see tourism as the opportunity to better themselves and their community and are very interested in learning the skills to better serve you when you come and visit the area.  In addition, it would mean that they wouldn't have to immigrate to the USA or big cities to work.  It gives them hope for a better life in their own town.

For the past three decades, the area has suffered years of neglect, mostly because of lack of vision from the local authorities. But this is changing with brand new leadership from a young administration that is willing to work hard and make it better.

The people from San Juan Tararameo-Benito Juarez welcome you with open arms!!!
