The Municipio of Cuitzeo is mostly a rural area surrounded by mountains and the lake.

Lake Cuitzeo, in the state of Michoacán, offers beautiful nature sights, a spectacular collection of flora and fauna and a slow pace to relax and unwind from all stress.

The lake has seven islands inhabited by ducks and herons. It has a perfect blend of weather, location, intimacy, tranquility and convenience.

Cuitzeo also has an interesting Plateresque-style Augustinian ex-Convent, one of the most important in the state of Michoacán.

The town of Cuitzeo, located about 5 minutes from the RV resort, offers the conveniences of small super markets,

mechanic shops, bank, doctors, dentist and medical clinics, etc.

There are many treasures to be found in this area, and we would like to invite you to come and explore this part of Mexico! We know that once you are here, you are going to really like it and want to stay a while...maybe for the season or the year.
Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) Program of SECTUR Mexico
Ministry of Tourism
With tourism being
Mexico’s third major industry, the country’s government has developed several
programs to support this important, dollar-generating sector. One of them,
called Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns), aims to increase tourism to towns that
are of particular historic or religious value, or that are located near large
cities or other tourist sites. As of 2006, the town of Cuitzeo del Porvenir,
Michoacán, is joining the 32 “Magical Towns” already in the program.
It’s not easy to become a Pueblo Mágico, but once a town is chosen to
participate in the program, it receives multi-level support, including funds
for modernization of tourism-related businesses such as handicraft shops and
restaurants, as well as for development and production of promotional materials
for advertising. Improvements to the roads and highways around Pueblos Mágicos
and the assurance that the hotels and other establishments within the towns
provide the highest level of service are also on the task list.
The current Pueblos Mágicos with their dates of incorporation into the program are:
